We somehow missed all the brewpubs in Ohio. However, we did manage to catch Foothills Brewery on our way between Cleveland and Raleigh. This gem of a brewpub is located in downtown Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It was fairly easy to get to from the interstate, so it seemed like a good lunch stop.

There was a plethora of beers to choose from. They had 8-9 standard beers, a seasonal, and another 8-9 special beers. There were 5 very different IPAs to choose from, ranging from very hoppy to a bit on the malty side to one that was a very drinkable ale that bordered on a pale ale. They even had a bourbon barrel aged porter.

The staff was very liberal with the samples, and I got to try 3 of the IPAs and the barrel aged porter before settling on the Jade IPA. I also got to sample another of the IPAs before making a bottle purchase to go. All were very good. I ended up getting a Hoppynum IPA bomber and an Endo IPA six-pack. Both are recommended, but very different. I like the fact that they don't just change the hops and call it a different beer.

Lunch was very good, too. They even had some novelty burger meats like buffalo and ostrich.

This is definitely a recommended stop.
