Beers from this place were recommended to us by a Chicago beer lover. And since it was somewhat on the way to Champaign from where we were staying in Elgin, it seemed like a logical place for lunch. The Roundhouse is a very cool building. First of all, it is round, as the name would suggest. It was built in 1856 to serve as a railroad yard machine shop, which it served as until 1974. It was abandoned for 21 years before a group lead by Walter Payton bought it in 1995 and converted it into a brewpub, restaurant, and museum. Two Brothers brewing aquired it in 2011. It has a very high ceiling and mezzanine seating. There is also a courtyard in the middle. Live music was advertised, and this seemed like a great venue to see a band.

We did make it for lunch, and the food was excellent. The beer was good, too. Jason had a wet-hopped IPA called Heavy-Handed IPA. There were three different versions available using different hop varieties. Janell had a very smooth pale ale.

This is definitely a recommended stop for food and beer.

WARNING...WARNING...WARNING!!! If you are planning to go here, make sure you go to the Roundhouse in Aurora and NOT the brewery in Warrenton. They aren't the same thing, as we learned the hard way.
