We decided to finish our visit to the anthropology museum. Now that we already saw Teotihuacan, i guess we might see all the information little more clearer. The museum is huge and they have replicas of the most important Mayan ruins. So i fell as if i had already seen them all. They also have the original Mayan calendar and a very detailed explanation of the real purpose of the calendar. Very impressive!
By noon we had seen it all. We spoke to our friend who offered to give us a quick tour around other places and also to take us to a souvenir market. It was a great market for buying something for everyone.Since it is not located in a very tourist place it is cheaper than buying in polanco for example.
When we got out, it was raining very hard. We headed to Palacio de Bellas Artes. The place is a theater made of marble. Since mexico city is pretty much built on top of a swamp, everything including the theater is sinking so there can actually be seen the cracks in the sidewalks. It seems that the theater is being repaired from the underground. There was a Frida Kahlo exhibition going on. The place was packed. The exhibition was of about 100 paintings and all the poems and letters she wrote to Diego.
After the exhibition, we went to see several buildings and the Zocalo. Too bad it was so late at night, but it looked great with the lights. We also went to the Mexican world trade center. In the last floor there is a viewpoint to see most of the city. I took some pictures despite of the hard rain.
We headed back to our hostel. Our airplane left the next day at 8am.
It was a quick but incredible journey to Mexico city. It impressed me very much specially because i didn't know what to expect when i first for there. My plans is to go back in a couple of years and include Guadalajara to my itinerary
