This section of the blog will be dedicated to whatever I do on my days off. I have two per week, Monday and Tuesday, and I try to utilize them well. From Sunday evening to late late Tuesday night, the Istanbul pictures and memories will be accumulated here.
My first day off was dedicated to a walk in Bebek, along the seaside, and up through Boğazıçı Universite, where I again angled down toward the Bosphorus to Rumeli Hisar, or Rumeli Fortress.
My subsequent days off have been replete with hanging out with some friends of mine. We usually hang out in Beşiktaş (that`s where I work), which is a nice central location for us. The nights are passed playing bilardo (pool), tavla, drinking tea (copious amount of tea!) and coffee (and occasionaly beer by the Bosphorus, which is one of the more beautiful and relaxing pasttimes), and tonight I`m going to learn a special Turkish game called `OK`. I have gone out dancing in Taksim on several occasions (yes, you heard me correctly) and I`ve cut quite a few Turkish rugs, so to speak. The place that I go is called My Moon, and it`s also a karaoke bar featuring both Turkish and English music.
There are pictures from many of these goings on, but I did not take them. I hope to be getting electronic copies soon.
