Where I stayed
Pleasant Hills Campground
After getting in to Huntingdon we unloaded Dad and Philip's stuff from the car and headed in to the house. Shortly after we got inside Jenny and Bryant showed up. We unloaded Bryant’s stuff from their car and then loaded up their car with my stuff for the weekend. Then Jenny and I headed out to the Pleasant Hills Campground near Raystown Lake for ladies weekend.
When we got to the campground Julie and Jared’s mom were waiting up for us with a fire going. Jordan and Laina were sleeping already. We hung out by the fire for a little bit and then all went to bed.
Friday, August 5th Ladies Weekend/Man Weekend
When we woke up it was rainy so we weren’t really sure what we would do for the day. Luckily it cleared up so we were able to eat some sandwiches for lunch outside and then get ready to go to Raystown Lake for the afternoon.
The day became pretty nice and we had a good time at the lake. Laina loves swimming so she really enjoyed the lake and Jordan had tons of fun having Nana flip her in the lake. It was a lovely relaxing afternoon. When we finished up at the lake we headed back to the campground to work on getting stuff together for dinner. Jody let us know that the rest of the Melson family will be at the campground in time for dinner. Jenny talked to Bryant’s mom Suzzie and she let her know that they were on their way and should be there in time for dinner. We got dinner started (bugers) right after the Melson’s showed up and got their camper set up.
The burgers were practically done and Suzzie and Jolie were not at the campground yet. Jenny talked to them and apparently they got lost. Jenny worked on getting them to the campground and they made it shortly after we finished our burgers.
We built a fire and hung out by the fire for the night and then headed to bed.
Saturday, August 6th
We woke up to pouring down rain today. Luckily Julie hopped out of the camper early in the morning to put our stuff under the awnings. Most of it didn’t get to wet so that was good. We ate breakfast and lunch under the awnings and played some games. Then when the rained slowed up some we decided to head to the pool in the rain. We figured that we would be wet in the pool anyway so why not go even though it was raining. We all had fun swimming and hung out there for a little while.
After finishing up in the pool Jenny, Julie, Jody, Mom Bookhamer, Alexis, Jordan, Grace, and Laina all got some icecream and we all walked back to the campground. Everyone got showers and cleaned up and then we started working on getting a fire started to make some mountain pies for dinner. It started to rain some, but it was only sprinkling so we hung out getting the fire set up anyway. When it really started to pour we hung out under the awnings and played games. Grace loved the rain and got soaked. She was hilarious and kept telling Laina to do it because it was fun. Laina wasn’t to in to getting wet, but she finally joined Grace and got a little bit wet.
We made our mountain pies when the rain slowed down and then played games after dinner under the awnings.
Sunday, August 7th
We woke up at 6am to a call from the boys saying that Dad Bookhamer had to be taken to the hospital this morning. Jenny and Mom Bookhamer headed out immediately to meet them at the hospital. We talked to the other boys a little bit later and they let us know that he was ok and coming back to the house soon. It rained on and off all day so the rest of us had to pack up the RV and the Melson camper in the rain. We got everything packed up and headed to the Bookhamer house.
