On our continued drive north we decided to stop at the "world's largest artichoke". Apparently the town of Castroville is the artichoke capital or something. Marilyn Monroe was once Ms. Artichoke in this town. Right off the exit, there was a fresh market that had a giant green concrete artichoke. We took some pictures and bought some fried artichokes. Also, I bought a cup of a premix for a michelada. I am not 100% what that is, but I asked another guy in the store and he said to just add beer and it is delicious. Basically it is a mexican thing, as is apparent from the cup being in all spanish. I haven't had it yet, but I am excited. After we got our order of fried artichokes we got back on the road.
