Sunday, May 15th

After leaving the campground we headed to Santa Barbara. We were able to park easily for free right down on the coast. They have free 90 minute parking on most of the streets around there and we found a spot big enough for us to fit. I am getting really good at my parallel parking though. Jared would probably point out that all the spots I have done it in are way bigger than needed but still. HAHA.

After getting the RV all parked we walked around Stearns Wharf. We are pretty sure that there was some sort of sailboat race going on.  At least from what we could see from the wharf that is what it looked like. While walking on the wharf we watched some guy pull up a huge spider crab. I took a picture of it, it was massive. When we got off the wharf there were a bunch of different artists showing off their work along the street. We walked up that for a while checking it out and then stopped in the Visitor's Center to grab a map of the town.

Jared wanted to check out the County Courthouse because they had an observation tower that gave us a great view of the city.  The city was pretty crowded though because of a car show that had the main street of the city shut down to drivers.  We finally found a spot in a parking lot and headed out for the courthouse. We went up though and got a great view of the city.

When we finished in the courthouse we headed down State St. to check out all the cars. There were tons of cars to check out. We spent some time looking at a bunch of them and checking out the town. It was a really cool place with tons of shops. After finishing up there we headed back to the RV to get on the road.

We were almost out of Santa Barbara and my cell phone started ringing. It was my mom and I hadn't talked to her in a week.  We were having a great chat until I pulled up to a stop sign and a cop pulled up to the other stop sign. Apparently in California you can't be on your phone and drive. I didn't realize it was a law here. The cop yelled out of his window PHONE and pointed at me.  I immediately threw my phone at Jared.  My mom had no clue what was going on so she was still going on with her story until Jared had to interrupt her and tell her I was being pulled over. She quickly got off the phone. The cop was super nice though. He pulled up next to me asked if we were from Pennsylvania. I said yes and he said well in California it is a law that you can't drive and talk on your phone. I said Oh I am sorry I didn't know. He let me off with a warning and told me not to do it again. I told him I would never do it again. He said the ticket would be $200 so I am really glad he let me go with a warning. Jared was going to call my mom back to explain, but I decided I would just call her once we got to the campground.  So we continued on our way.
