Saturday, April 2nd

Today we headed out from the campground and decided to stop by the Sweet Home Farm in Elberta, AL. We had tried to stop at Sweet Home Farms earlier in our trip when we were heading along the Gulf Coast to FL and they were closed. It was a really cool little place. They make all their own cheeses from the milk of their herd of cows. It was a really little store to buy the cheese and we were able to sample different ones before making our purchase. The guy running the store was really nice.  We decided to purchase their Cajun Spice (a gouda available in different seasoned varieties) and the Montabella. Both are delicious. They also had some homemade bread for sale and other local made products. We bought a herb, garlic and parmesan swirl bread and a jar of honey. Jared took some pictures of the place so you can see how small it was. It was a neat little stop though with a good amount of locals coming in to purchase cheese while we were there.

After that we drove the rest of the way to Port Allen and the campground. The campground was located a mile down the road from a Kite Festival. After getting set up at the campground we decided to bike down to the Kite Festival. It was a cool little event with music playing, food booths, professional kite fliers, and activities for kids. We ate some bbq food and watched some kite flying. After the festival ended we headed back to the campground for the night.
