We had been parked for two days now at Erromardie near St Jean de Luz, so after visiting Bayonne and Biarritz, it was time to see St Jean.

From our camp by the sea we were in a good position to walk some kilometres into town. It was an absolutely beautiful walk,  but the weather suddenly turned hot again so it was challenging. The road winds along the cliffs beside the ocean. The water is blue as can be, and the vegetation along the cliffs is amazing.

Pittosporum Odorata was in full bloom. It had a beautiful jasmine like scent.  And then there was the honeysuckle. In full bloom and in the heat the scent was amazing. The wildflowers here have been a lovely sight.

So after many a hill and dale we reached the town. It was lunchtime, and we needed shade, so spent some time in a restaurant  overlooking the water enjoying  a fish lunch. We haven't done much dining out, as our meals a-la-camping car have been so good, but this was the time for it.

Lunch gave us the energy to walk further. First to Ciboure, St Jean de Luz's twin town. Here are more white Basque houses, and also a ferry to Socoa, across the bay. It was cool on the water, and Socoa was also interesting. Here was a fort built in 1627, and lots of restaurants by the water. Obviously a busy place at times.

So, have been moist impressed by this area. Have loved our stay at St Jean de Luz, and are now back in the French way of doing things. How adaptable we are!

Not sure if your P.R. Managers allows photo requests but perhaps you could let them know that we would love to see more pictures of the travellers, Sir Bob and Lady J. Also curious to see more of your camping sites, your van and regional foods.

Happy Onward Journey from us in the now quite chilly Brisbane. xxx
