Oh great more steps. Up I don,t know how many steps to the bus positano to sorrento. Waited as buses on a go slow strike. what a wonderful place to have to sit and wait. just people watched up high on a tight corner on the main road. it was incredible to see all the locals beeping the horns to anyone they knew, all stopping to have a chat, vespas flying along with dogs sitting on their owners feet heads hanging out the side, tiny 3wheeled utes with 2people jammed in the front seat. Nicks favourite car, the fiat, , trucks and buses taking up all the road turning around the corner. People stopping at the local shops for their daily requirements. It was Italy at it,s best.
Caught the ferry to Capri. Down more steps of course to port. Went to anacapri bugger chairlift not working, siesta time as well so shops shut. Roads so narrow, sea is aqua, more steps down from Capri to port.
So tonight we had pizza, cheese, olives and red wine on the terrace from our room. Sitting out there listening to a piano playing in the distance, watching the lights of cars travelling along the cliff side, boats lights out on the Mediterranean. Did I say red wine.......local of course.....and fantastic 10euro, we went up market, most around 6euro. Great to have a night in for a change.
Heading to Rome tomorrow for our last night before flying out at 8pm friday, I think,. Fantastic holiday, we are still talking to each other, haven,t got lost too many times but that's all part of it. We have had huge amount of laughs, many "what the" moments, toe tingling sights, weird people, great wines, fantastic food and learnt to go with the flow, what's another hour or two. Climbing up and down stairs, carrying bags up and down stairs, lugging them on and off trains and buses. Still haven,t learnt much Italian, we still wonder when they say prego to us are they actually calling us "stupid Australians" or "idiots"
