Loved big sur area. Where we stayed was extremey laid back n old style . No rain today so easy drive in the winding roads. Great views, took us about two hours to go 20miles stopping often. Saw the elephant seal rookery so many of them all sunning themselves, flicking sand n fighting. Checked a couple of surf spots but noting surf able nearly went out at pismo beach with the otters,,, there were other blokes out but only breaking in one spot. So we,ve headed down to santa Barbara for night n check out the sights Thursday. Count down now to go to Mexico on friday night so need to be close to la for midnight flight

Santa Barbara is a great city! Check out downtown State Street area. If you're looking for a budget-friendly alternative to the hostel I also recommend the Sandman Inn (www.thesandmaninn.com). They have nice accommodations for a reasonable rate. Enjoy the beach! I'm jealous I love SB
This looks like you had a great time! I love California and driving the 1 freeway along the coast! Such gorgeous views and it just makes you feel good to be alive. I was just in Santa Barbara and had a great time enjoying my weekend getaway. Stayed at the South Coast Inn (www.santa-barbara-hotel.com). So elegant and the perfect place to escape all of the city noise!
