In the waning days of winter, Chris and I decided to book a short two-day ski trip to Hakuba, Nagano, so that Chris could practice his newly-rediscovered skiing skill, and I could just...well...ski. Using our last "flex day" from ECC this year, we bought a Sunday-Monday trip package (Mar 6-7) which included round-trip bus fare, lift tickets, quarter-price rentals (don't ask!), two meals, a ski locker, and of course, a room for one night at the Hotel Green Plaza in Hakuba. The hotel backed onto a ski area called "Hakuba Cortina", which was not the largest place in Hakuba by any means, but was quite enough to entertain us for a day and a half. We managed to ski on Sunday from 8:30am-3:00pm (we had previously spent all night on a bus, so 6.5 hours was quite enough for us), and on Monday from 8:30am-12:30pm. During that time, I practised my carving skills, and Chris worked on his parallel skiing. We were lucky to have *excellent* weather--blue skies and bright sunlight for two days straight--and the snow conditions were also pretty favourable, even during the dreaded afternoon runs. So here are some pictures from our trip. It was a great way to end the ski season...we are already talking about taking a longer trip next winter!
