Arriving in Prague, we navigated the metro system and arrived to our hotel just after 11pm. We went to the hotel cafe for a snack - the hotel had a casino in it, so the restaurant was open 24/7.
The next morning we had an early start and walked to the old town square. We wandered around, seeing all the sites and taking in the atmosphere. There was a big Christmas market there as well (sorry Brad, you can't escape it) and saw the powder tower, the old town hall and the astronomical clock
We had a nice lunch at an Italian restaurant on the square and then walked over the Charles Bridge by the old town bridge tower. The bridge is only for pedestrians and is filled with lots of artists and vendors. Originally built in the 15th century, the bridge was considered a 'wonder of the world' at the time. It was SO busy even though it was quite cold. We then walked up the hilly streets to Prague castle where we toured the old castle, St. George's Basilica, St. Vitus Cathedral and Gold Lane.
The next day we went up the astronomical clock tower. It wasn't that high, but it was quite precarious - especially if you are a bit scared of heights! There were so many people up there pushing past you and the ledge is not that high. To make it even more scary, the edge is quite uneven so it makes your knees a bit shaky. We then went to the Jewish Museum - this museum was preserved by the Nazi's during the war as they had intended it to be a museum of the extinct race.
It was really interesting to see Prague after Vienna. There were so many things that related to each other - we saw many pieces of history in Vienna that were also referenced in Prague.
