Where I stayed
Cape Hillsborough Caravan Park
We arrived in Cape Hillsborough within good time to find ourselves on a spare site, technically isn't normally a camping spot, but it did mean we got the spot very, very cheap! Once we’d settled in we decided to walk to one of the lookouts close by so we’d could look south-west, stunning day, stunning view!
We stopped back at the van for lunch and then made our way up the hill to more lookout points called Turtle Point and Andrews Point. Even more stunning views than before as we were higher.
The next morning we were up early enough for sunrise over the beach, as we had heard there may be 'Roos there too.
They hadn’t appeared after a while but Andy saw one in the sea in the distance, by the time we got over there he hadn’t jumped away. In fact, he seemed very tame and stood very still while we took photos. I even managed to persuade Andy to get a bit closer so I could get a shot of him with a wild one! As we were headed back towards camp, two more appeared and they bounced along together which was a very strange sight on the beach. They proceeded to be chased by what seemed loads of children, repeatedly stopping, letting them get close and then bouncing away again. It was a sight to see. The two that were together also let me get close for a photo, quite something for wild ones I thought, especially as they weren't as tame as the first one we saw.
After breakfast, we travelled down to Yeppoon for the night. Nothing really much there, just a place to stop, although we did visit the nice beach before leaving.

Comments
This was definitely one of the hidden gems of the trip.
Unbelievable scenery, and a fantastic experience with the 'roos.
Even if the pool at the campsite was below freezing!!!!
