San Pedro - Miscellaneous Wanderings
Well, I haven't been getting to posting all the places I've been getting to see in San Pedro, so I'm going to try to catch up a little in this posting. Here's the Point Fermin Lighthouse. It looks like a lovely old house, with a tower added on.
My cousin Julie and I didn't get there at the right time for an inside tour. We'll have to do that another time. The lighthouse is right in Point Fermin Park, next to where the Shakespeare by the Sea performances take place.
I've enjoyed visits from a few friends since we moved. Here's Heidi, taken on our walk around Cabrillo Marina:
And Joan, overlooking the ocean, along Paseo del Mar:
Of course, I had to make a visit to the local public library:
And, while I was there, I borrowed a couple of local history books.
Elaine and I enjoyed checking out the local Friday Farmers Market on 6th Street and getting delicious fruit. This old building on 6th Street has a lovely interior courtyard:
We bought some samosas at the market for lunch and sat in the courtyard to eat them.
San Pedro has a lovely old post office built in 1936:
Rosemarie and I went to check out Ports of Call for lunch on Saturday. While we were there enjoying seafood tostados, a huge freight ship from Shanghai was entering the harbor:
Here's Elaine and Ian walking along the beach at Point Fermin at twilight:
