Last stop of the cruise: Bergen. I feel like i am visiting a celebrity, as I love Bergen bread. We arrive in Bergen at a respectable 9am however we had a lazy lay in as our sleep has been a bit broken of late due to the gentle rocking at night being a bit disconcerting. Another big but average breakfast followed and we then waddled off the gangway into Bergen. Its a beautiful little town, or should i say city, being the second largest in Norway. Gorgeous coloured wooden houses everywhere and the beautiful Bryggen port area were definitely highlights. We wandered through one of the most diverse, delicious looking fish markets i have seen full of huge pieces of fresh fish, giant king crab claws, lobster, mussels and scallops all being either bought fresh or cooked on site. The smells and sights were just amazing, a real feast for the senses. However very very expensive.

We made our way up Mount Floien next via funicular railway with gave beautiful views over the city and surrounding fjords. We chose to take the train up and walk down and so happy that we did. It was a gradual, quad. burning 45 minute walk and thoroughly enjoyable with 'trolls' hidden in the thick forrest and more beautiful views over town on the way down. And fresh air! Very relaxing and peaceful indeed after being on a ship of thousands. And again, getting the hear rate up and boosting the endorphins doesn't hurt either.

A little wander back through the old town and a quick internet/blog updating stop and we were done. Bergen appeared to have so much to offer: walks, glacier treks, more fjords tours.... But not for our 8 hour stop (minus the 2 hour sleep in...). Would definitely recommend.

On the way back we realized that this was our last stop in Norway before heading back to Copenhagen via a day at sea, so we had to use up the last of our Kroners. We got some yummy fish and chips and tried some traditional Bergen Fish Cakes (simply haddock, garlic, potato). Dan reckons they can stay in Bergen but i quite enjoyed them, sitting on the dock looking over Bryggen, feeding our extras ridiculously big seagulls, as big as a medium size dog some of them!

After such late afternoon indulgence we definitely couldn't make it to our stupidly early 6pm dinner sitting so sadly stood ip Eric and Barbara and played cards in the Champagne bar again instead. The barman (Rusti Mendez, a lovely Phillipino man) knows me by name now. We skipped the bottle tonight, instead i had a lovely glass of a St Michelle Riesling and dan had iced water, such a good boy, he puts me to shame. A very average dinner was had in the Windjammer buffet, the worst of the trip which was disappointing. We then had some quiet time between the centrum bar where an amazing mini orchestra was playing some classical music and then some time out of deck reading and writing.
