We are staying at Henderson Beach State Park in Destin. It is a picturesque, perfectly maintained coastal park. There is a short walk through natural dunes to the quiet beach. We love it here! Days are in the high 70s, which we understand is 10 degrees above average for this time of year.
We rode our bikes to the vibrant harbor in Destin. A very cool place with great restaurants, pubs, little shops and a very active commercial fishing presence. We watched crews unloading a bountiful catch of Red Snapper while we were biking by. Private charters are also offered along with boat tours to see the Bottle nose Dolphins that are in the area.
The Destin area looks ready and prepared to handle a large influx of vacationers. We understand that the winter months are the quietest and the action really picks up in the spring. We're sure with the normal high temperature in the low 60s is why snowbirds continue further south if they are into hangin' at the beach.....
