(Written collaboratively)
Marietta, GA is currently where we call home.  We have each lived in four or five different places but they have all been within 25 miles of Atlanta.  In our three and a half years together, we have taken five or six trips but none of them have been longer than a week.  We have been warned of the potential strain such a long trip could put on our relationship but we are cautiously optimistic that we will persevere and in the end this trip will reveal itself to be another milestone we have crossed together.

Having no dates or destinations set in stone, we have a list of cities and places we would like to experience based on preconceptions, advice, and curiosity:
- St. Louis, MO
- Indianapolis, IN
- Milwaukee, WI
- Chicago, IL
- Niagara Falls, NY
- Portland, ME
- Boston, MA
- Providence, RI
- Baltimore/Annapolis, MD

We are travelling on a tight budget and are still looking for more opportunities to freeload for a night.  Generous volunteers have already stepped forward in Chicago and Annapolis, but the rest of the trip looks like a mix of cheap hotels, bed & breakfasts, and maybe a hostel or two.  We are not too snobby to camp but we don't imagine February to be the ideal time to pitch a tent in New England.

Walmart will provide the majority of our consumables along the way but we hope to check out some of the local restaurants that we have read or heard about.  For navigation we have an IPhone and a US Atlas so we won't have to rely entirely on Jessica's often questionable navigation skills.  Research has indicated that we should carry a week's worth of clothes and bring a lot of quarters, so we'll see how that goes.

To help maintain our sanity, we are going to try to limit our daily driving mileage to 250 miles/day.  This will cause us to need to stop at dozens of other cities along the way.  Originally we were thinking of a 3-4 week trip, but if we are able to keep our costs down we could potentially extend it much longer.

The bills are set, the Mazda 3's oil has been changed, and all responsibilities have been put on hold but it is now 8pm on the eve of our departure and we haven't packed a thing.

Good night!
