Where I stayed

I am sitting in the Istanbul hostel typing this as U2's song "one" plays in the background. (i didn't even request it!) It has made me think of mentioning to you that the children have started to realize that we are "one but not the same". As we have travelled the children are at first a bit shy with the new people we meet and then before long they whisper to us "Are they ever nice, they are just like us." We are so pleased as this is one of the lessons we hoped the children would learn in our travels. Tonight as we made our way through the streets of Istanbul (after a long day of travelling) Brett was spoken to by many people we passed. Hi Princess what is your name? Where are you from? I have a brother in Montreal...... He received a few hugs and had her cheeks pinched a bit too. She was very good about all the attention.

So, We left Poland yesterday morning (seems like a lifetime ago). We made our last Ryan air flight and the first one to be delayed! This was due to the extra high security at the Krakow airport. We arrived in London and made our way to our hotel with a stop for food along the way. We called for a taxi to pick us up at 7am this morning to take us back to Heathorw. We had a good sleep and then in the morning caught our cab. (20 pounds for a 10 minute trip).(Now you all know I wouldn't take a cab if there was anyother way to go-we had no choice) As we stood in line at Swiss Air Darcy said "Where's my purse"?"We realized it had been left in the cab. We called them and they sent the cab back BUT we had to check in for our flight in 25minutes and they said it would take 20mins for the cab to get back. SO the kids and I went through security with all the bags and then waited for Andrew who had his watch on a timer and stood out at the taxi stand. 15 pounds later we had Darcy's purse (camera and Ds) back and Andrew made it through security (holding a purse) with a bit of time to spare.

We flew to Zurich and really enjoyed seeing the Swiss Alps from the air. We changed planes and flew on to Turkey arriving at 4:30pm local time. We made it through the buying of visas and passport control and onto a subway and then a tram. At the end of the tram stop we had many people asking us to come and stay at their hostel and tking us off in different directions even though we told them we had a reservation here.

So, Andrew has gone with the kids to find some dinner and I am here writting to you all. We really love hearing from you all. The internet is free here so I am going to try to post some pictures tonight. We will see. I'm pretty tired too.... We are here for 18 days (in Turkey that is). we are hoping to slow down a bit and relax.

I hope all is well with you. I hear winnepeg has had 20cm of snow. Has Ottawa seen any yet?

take care,
Julia
