I will be traveling to Liberia with the Executive Director of Hope International to help establish an International adoption program and provide humanitarian aid to this war torn region. Hope International, based in Dallas, TX has a relationship with a church in Monrovia that has recently built the orphanage and health clinic we will visit. Their goal was to get children off the streets and provide nutrition, education and now a chance at having a loving family.
Liberia is the the process of rebuilding after a devastating civil war from 1990-2003. Although it is one of the poorest countries in Africa, it is home to some of the most optimistic people in Africa as they now have a chance to live in peace. The war devastated the infrastructure of the country and it's people. Many children lost their parents. We will be introduced to the children in the orphanage, many of which have lived through unimaginable atrocities. We are providing humanitarian aid to the orphanage which we will hand deliver. If you would like to donate money, I can assure you it will go to help the children directly.
We have to travel through Brussels to get to Liberia. It is roughly 6 hours from New York to Brussels then another 7 hours to Monrovia, Liberia.
