Day started well, took lots of breakfast to our room for Tina too as she didn't get any at hers - when she arrived at 9 she said she was terrified last night. For a start there was a sign on the door saying for your protection always use the deadbolt & safety latch, she said she put the chair plus her bike against the door & would have put the microwave on the chair but it was bolted to the cupboard! There were people walking past her room all night & she was hoping the sounds next door were just on the TV & not for real. So off we all went, nice sunny day lots of cyclists out today, everything great for an hour or so then going over a bridge & suddenly
I went flying through the air & landed on my shoulder on the gravel at the side if the road. Didn't know what had happened but turns out Peter had hit my back wheel! The air was blue - it hurt so much, had to walk to meet Tina as she had cycled off in front Peter had to push along both bikes. Met Teen & after ice & ibuprofen still felt no better, peter kept saying get back on the bike but I couldn't lift my arm,p the pain was so bad. We got to a bus stop but there was only room for one bike so I got on & they put my bike on the front rack, $2 gets you as far as you want to go. I got to see Huntington & Laguna beaches from the bus, I'd really been looking forward to cycling along here. At Dana Point I asked the bus driver to get my bike off the rack (offered him $10 but he wouldn't take it), now what - then see a McDonald's, I'll go in to use wifi to look for doctors while I wait for the others to arrive by bike. They cycled there in pretty good time so we went into a hotel to ring for a cab to go to urgent care docs, left Tina's bike chained up there while they cycled on to the hotel. I went in the cab to the surgery where they took an x-ray & said my arm was broken at the top, the doctor said I should see an orthopaedic surgeon pretty quick, they gave me a sling so that my arm is supported which helped with the pain. Neal came & took us back to the ER hospital at Encinitas where they took another x-ray then emailed them to the surgeon who says it shouldn't need pinning but I have to make an appt to see him Monday. I think Peter felt bad as he thought I'd only bruised it & Neal really got upset that they'd sent me on a bus & taxi alone but with 3 bikes loaded with all our stuff & only 2 riders it was difficult to know what to do. Home at last around 10pm with a prescription for painkillers, hope they work as it'll be difficult to sleep on my back with a sling too.
