On our way we stopped off for a break and a bar/motel that reminded me ver vividly of a horror movie. In the absolute middle of nowhere was this motel that claimed to have 'Power & Shower' although i very much doubt it. The bar was run by a very elderly couple who must have spent most of their lives there, the old dude was a bit shifty i'm sure he could have kung-fu'd my ass out of there if he wanted to...we didn't hang around for long!!!
We arrived in Denham late in the evening after a fair few hours on the road, the hostel looked closed but as luck had it you could ring a bell and someone come through to reception to check us in. The Hostel, a YHA i think, was pretty sweet. it had an outdoor pool with a volleyball net and a huge kitchen area fitted with bbq's and plenty of seating. Three rooms joined onto 1 communal kitchen and we met a cool Argentinian guy called Mark, so we chilled n had a few beers before catching some z's...
Damo was up early and by the time i awoke he had gone out, so in no hurry I sorted myself and went to do some exploring myself. Denham is a pretty small beach town with a lil jetty, aquarium and not a lot else. After finding Damo we took a long walk along the white sandy beach around to the headland taking in the early morning sun and paddling in the water!
We had a spot of lunch and the 3 of us drove the few km's over to Monkey Mia...
That evening a few more ppl had turned up at the otherwise dead hostel so we all clubbed together and bought in for some bbq food which went down a treat...of course it wouldn't b a real bbq without goon, before we knew it we were playing drinking games and then the night goes blank . :-)
Before leaving there was just about enough wind for Damo to get out the kite board on a beautiful little lagoon inbetween Denham and Monkey Mia. After gettin the kite up Damo got out into the middle which was great it was just the getting back part which seemed to be hard. A car pulled up and it was some local ranger who told us that apparently he weren't meant to be on the water coz its a protected site and he could get fined. So after struggling to get back to the edge we made a quick getaway!
