We arrived in Port Douglas today, bright and early! The drive from Cooktown whizzed by! We had to drive over that bloody Mt. Molloy again though - I think it's impossible not to feel a bit (if not a LOT) queasy on that twisting, turning road. Blech!
Anyway, we were all set up and fed lunch with plenty of time to go for a swim before heading out for a stroll down Macrossan Street, Pt. Doug's main stretch. What a town! It's out on the end of a peninsula (a narrow one at that) so it's surrounded by beach on both sides! Macrossan Street has beach at both ends - it's brilliant.
It's the perfect little tourist hotspot. Dozens of quaint little shops, galleries and trendy eateries; and all the streets are beautifully landscaped with various tropical plants and trees that I just can't get enough of! And then there are the never-ending resorts and holiday apartments, dripping with luxurious tropical charm. I admit, I'm a sucker for places like this, but I'm not gonna fight it ;)
