Where I stayed
Byron Bay Tourist Village, Byron Bay, NSW
What a busy crazy place, traffic is banked up for ages out of the main street to get into town!
We tried to get into 2 caravan parks before finally actually getting accomodation just 5min drive into town. We can't believe one of the caravan parks actually turned us away because we had more than 2 people travelling!!! Interesting!!!
It has been over 10 years since I came here and it is so many more shops, cars, people ... a bit faster pace. I think Troy has been shocked at the lovely stereotypical Byron people that we have seen so far. There is alot of permanents at this caravan park and alot of backpackers and alot of incense smells around!
My favourite part of the caravan park (definately not the dirty showers) was the surfer Mark Occhilupo 'Occy' and friends staying and filming in our caravan park. I went all silly and girly when I saw him on Sat morning filming outside the chalet they were staying in. There were alot of pro looking surfers but not too sure who some of the others were. By the time I got myself together they drove past us to go surfing in their 2 cars loads of surfers and roof packed high with surfboards.
We loved the beaches and with the excellent waves which inspired us to get the boys body boards from one of the surf shops in Byron Bay. Kye's old crappy one disappeared a few months ago somewhere in NT so we got him a proper body board and Dylan a little learner one. Aunty Rochelle & Uncle Ryan would be proud!
We had a great time checking out the main part of town and couldn't believe how busy every single cafe/restuarant was! We had an unreal lunch in town even if it did rain a bit when we were sitting partially outside, my pumpkin, lentil & coconut soup was the best ever and I think Troy's burger probably was the best he has had!
