I WOULD NOT recommend the caravan park we stayed at, it was NOT like it looked on the website and found it old and run down and hard to drive around in. We also had a bad experience with a nasty man as our neighbour and had to make a complaint to keep appropriate behaviour since we could ALL hear him! There is quite often school children reading our blog so I won't go into this incident.
We visited Newcastle which is nice and had lunch at the port in the lovely sun. Newcastle is quite an old area, as is most of the coast north of Sydney. We aren't used to hilly, windy road with loads of dense trees everywhere. It is so very different to Perth!
Some of the beaches along the coast near Belmont, Swansea & Newcastle are great with loads of surf clubs, but I think alot of work needs to be done on the roads and clean up the area a bit!
I think after we saw a young guy trying to steal an older woman's handbag at Charlestown Square near Newcastle (and the uneducated fellow at the caravan park) we came away from the Newcastle area with bad feelings.
There is some great shopping areas around though and not short of a bargain!
