Whilst the previous working week hadn't been overly strenuous, I felt completely knackered heading off to Heathrow Terminal 4 on the Friday evening. It had felt like a particularly taxing few months since February. With the holiday suddenly upon me, the emotional lows of previous months, MSc exertions, and a challenging and far from smooth working year, felt like they had taken their toll. Carting a full to bursting 70 litre rucksack on the tube across London during the rush hour didn't enhance my mood, and despite the many well wishes (and even more cries along the lines of "a whole month, you lucky bastard!"), a sense of relief was more keenly felt than any excitment.
As you might expect, with the exception of unlimited beers, new movies, and attractive Sri Lankan Airlines air hostesses (8/10, on a par with Thai Airways, and infinitely more gorgeous than the Lufthansa girls) the flight was uneventful.
