After spending a few nights in Prague, we had heard by word of mouth, of small town in Southern Czech Republic. After finding a place to stay on the internet, we made our way down there. Catching a dodgy train from Prague down to Ceske Budejovice (the home of the original Budweiser Budvar), then an hour bus journey from there to our destination. Picking up a couple of Aussie backpackers on the way.

When we arrived we were amazed. This small medieval town was beatiful, and completely untouched by a commercialisation and chain store shit!
We were lucky to get accomadation, due to there being a huge town festival at the weekend, celebrating the towns flower, the rose. A town with a population of 15,000, was going to increase to about 80,000 over the couple of days. We took advantage of the less crowded Thursday that we arrived, and spent the day exploring the town. An over-the-top castle was the highlight, that looked over the town with its river winding through it.

The second day we spent relaxing on the canal, watching people go past on canoes, and enjoying the atmosphere of the festival. People were all dressed up in old fashioned medieval clothing, and there was singing and folk dancing in the town square.
That evening we met up with our aussie friends to watch the England game v. T & T! We were grateful that there happened to be 2 other English there to cheer when we scored, two manchurians cycling by tandem around Prague.
We Had a great evening, and met lots of people...mainly aussies, who seem to be evry where you go. In fact when i woke up the next day witha slight hangover, i was shocked to see so many people in the room...all aussies. They had also had a good night, one who got so drunk fell out of his bunk bed during the night, and only woke Laura up...who said she thought it was an earthquake.

Our last day here, so we went to nice lttle restaurant on the river and had a traditonal Bohemian feast!!

A great town that we would love to visit again, and recommend to anyone...its cheap too!!
