Waking up to torrential rain, put a scupper on our plans for that day but we couldn't complain as we are in the middle of a rainforest after all! Wandering around town we didnīt really do much but just chill. Gustavo took us out on the bikes that evening to the University cinema where we watched a horror movie in Spanish, followed by quite a few drinks at............bar. It was supposed to be a very quiet night but the group of local pharmacists had a party at the bar with a band and dancers so we felt we had to join in. Cycling back in the dark at 3am to see all the mopeds parked up outside bars waiting for their drivers to jump on drunk and drive back, apparently most normal laws don't apply here in Leticia.
No rain today so we cycled to Laguna Azul (the blue lagoon which is not so blue but still beautiful) 7km away. Even though it was Motherīs Day and as you can imagine Mothers day here is a huge thing as they have such a family orientated culture. All over town bakeries were selling flamboyant cakes, thousands of flowers being sold and presents delivered. But despite this, the Laguna was not very busy, we had expected huge groups of families on their day out. We picked our wooden shack on side the lagoon, laid there and chilled for the afternoon taking the occasional dip to cool ourselves off.
