Where I stayed
Good Morning Sydney!!
Wow, I actually slept quite well.. Good job really... today involves some serious hiking!
Wahey! awake in time for a Hash Brown!!... much better than cornflakes!! (unless you've got high cholesterol)
Oz Experience is the company running our expedition today, so should be a good one!!
It started with a introduction from our tour guide for the day "Smokey" (no idea what his real name was, however he claimed to know Steve Irwin, so I was hopeful!)
ITS NOT RAINING!!... I'm quite fond of my life and not so keen on being blown off of a mountain edge so the good weather was a relief!
The Blue Mountains is a mountain range not too far from Sydney, setting apart the more civilised suburb areas and the Outback...(I found out that it's actually called the Outback as it's out the back of the mountain range!)
First Stop was a trip to see some Kangaroo's at the bottom of the reserve.... I was surprised how small the Roo's were.. but we were assured by "Smokey" that the ones in the outback are much bigger! At this point I wasn't too interested in the Kanga's as they wernt really doing anything interesting... I was too busy watching the floor as we'd been told that there were spiders about.... and I really hate spiders!! .... spoke to soon...
"Smokey" the tour guide decided it would be a good idea to start looking for spiders! :| Crazy Fool!... cautiously I kept to the back of the group and so didn't have to get too close... however... after getting back on to the bus... Smokey did a Steve Irwin impression, slammed the breaks on... jumped off of the coach and started poking a stick around in the grass!!! Luckily it wasn't a snake! he did however find a 10ft spider (yeah ok im exaggerating a little) and brought it on to the bus... I don't think i've ever jumped up on to a seat as quick in my life!
After a quick bite to eat, we ventured up the mountains! i'll remember for future that normal trainers really are not ideal for hiking! Theres not much else to say about the Hike, except my legs felt like they were going to collapse and I moaned after every step :D
On a more positive note though, it was a fantastic view and well worth the visit, lots of tree's, lots of steps and lots of rocks! good times! :| A very tiring day ending with lots of blisters! but a good day all in all!
