Well I have finally made it over to the other side of the country in one of the most well known place in the world, New York!!

Flying over was an amazing sight, just to see the New York skyline and of course be greeted by the statue of liberty, only once I started flying over did I realise how big this city actually is and taking the airport shuttle to my hotel it all started to become very daunting, I had no idea how to get anywhere or where anything was but luckily that was solved by means of the New York city day tour, it pretty much covered all the main attractions you would want to see in one whole day.

On the way to my hotel I passed Madison Square Garden, Plaza Hotel, Central Park, Rockefeller Centre...It was so cool to see all the hustle and bustle of a typical day in the city even if it did take almost two hours just to get through traffic to end up at my hotel. I have based myself in China Town and Little Italy only because it was pretty much the cheapest accommodation I could find in the city and I completely understand why it was so cheap because it is seriously like being in a prison, the rooms are all cramped in together and its dorm style bathrooms...not nice at all!!!

So not wanting to be in my room I explored the area but literally only for about an hour, 38 degree weather was not going down to well with me and I decided to just head back to air conditioning and just wait for my tour to begin tomorrow morning.

The New York city tour was amazing, you literally got to see everything and if I had not down it I would of missed out on heaps. The first stop on the tour was St Patricks Cathedral, it was pretty cool and kind of looked like Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, such an old building surrounded by all these sky scrappers. Next was to wall Street and the famous New York Stock Exchange, this one street was just packed with people everywhere and was so hard to move around.

The obvious highlight of the tour was the statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, luckily we had a reserved ticket to be able to get on the ferry because the line was massive and we could of easily been there for a few hours. The statue of liberty was just amazing and being able to be on the island was so cool. It doesn't seem to look as big when you get closer to it but its still a remarkable sight to see especially with the Manhattan skyline in the background.

The tour included a quick walk around Little Italy which has sadly become smaller now because China Town is literally swallowing it up but it was still pretty cool to see even if its just a bunch of restaurants now, the final stop on the tour was a climb to the Empire State building, again luckily we had express tickets and we were able to be up the top in around 10 minutes because otherwise we would of been waiting for hours. The view from the top is amazing, un-interrupted 360 views over the whole city and you literally could see everything from the top.

New York is for sure one of the coolest places I have visited so far even if it is very daunting but once you get a basic idea of things it all kind of falls into place. Thats all for New York because tomorrow its on to Boston.
