So one thing I have noticed in LA while traveling on the metro rain line is that there is always a lot going on and it seems like the metro line is more then just a means of transportation but many people seem to rely on it whether that means selling candy, bottles of water, bracelets and lucky charms or to the poor begging for money....seriously the different train lines seem to have their own communities where everyone knows everybody business, its just a completely different world to the glitz and glamour of Hollywood.
Today I decided to see another side of Hollywood that many people wouldn't really take the time to visit, I made my way to one of the many Hollywood cemeteries to visit the resting place of a legend in the silent film era Rudolph Valentino. Almost 90 years after his death many adoring fans still brings flowers to his grave.
One of the greatest and most enduring Hollywood legends is that of the mysterious "Lady in Black" who visits Valentino's crypt each anniversary of his death. The visits began on the first anniversary of his death when the woman, covered in black from head to toe including a heavy veil, entered the mausoleum and left roses at Valentino's crypt and then left without saying a word. word....This tradition of the "Lady in Black" still continues to this day on the anniversary of his death.
The cemetery grounds are massive and are right next to Paramount studios. Many stars from the early days of film are buried here and it really is a fitting tribute to the stars of the golden years of Hollywood.
