My first full weekend in LA is complete and whatever nerves I had are now pretty much gone. I have settled into my new place and have manage to get some sense of direction. Today I decided to stay local and so taking the metro I headed down the expo line to the California Science Centre, there was a Cleopatra exhibit that I had seen advertised all over the place and I wanted to see what it was all about. The centre itself is massive and includes a huge park, the natural history museum and the air and space museum so I was pretty excited to see what it was all about.

The California Science centre is a massive building and comes with it own imax theatre. The museum itself is free to explore and there were heaps of exhibits to see, i had a go in the tornado machine and I got to experience what an earthquake would feel like but obviously the main reason I was here was for the Egyptian exhibit and it seriously was cool...There were hundreds of artefacts on display, all of which had been found at the bottom of the sea at the port in Alexandria, Egypt. There was sooo much gold and jewellery and two of the biggest statues I had ever seen and the way they had created the exhibit it actually felt as if you had stepped back in time.

The natural history museum was the next stop for me and this place is just even bigger then the science centre and is full of dinosaur displays and mammals from North and South Africa. The museum was very interactive and had heaps of hands on displays and i got to see a dinosaur puppet show which was actually really cool but now that I'm typing it just sounds lame! By now it was already 3pm and I had eaten yet so I figured id take the metro into downtown LA ad try to get something to eat there.

DOWNTOWN LA

Well what can I say about downtown LA.....nothing much really, it really is just a business district and so on the weekend it was dead...there were hardly any people there and there were even fewer cars and so trying to find something to eat was just nearly impossible. I did however get to see the Walt Disney concert hall...I kinda stumbled on that by accident so that was pretty cool to see. I managed to get something to eat at Subway and then decided to call it a day and head back home BUT not before stopping off at Maccas and grabbing a LARGE chocolate thick shake and a s'mores pie ( Best thing ever!!! )

Back home and relaxing and getting ready to organise the full on week ahead....Hollywood blvd and Universal studios!!!
