Where I stayed
2660 Clyde Avene, Los Angeles
So I may have only been here for one day already but far out have I done a lot of walking!!! Got off the plane at about 10:30am on the 15th June, I was exhausted by the flight as it was a very bumpy ride so I didn't get much sleep and not to mention the Indian family you kept playing musical chairs with the seats around me...was not fun!!!
Standing in passport inspection que was not a fun time either, there were like 20 checkouts in total but only 3 of them were actually serving people which meant the line to get through was ridiculous...I was there for nearly 2 hours but I finally got through all that and I met up with my driver, he was a really nice guy and gave me a rundown on the basic I might need to know while I'm the city such as tipping ( I think this might of been a hint ) and also places of interest and such.
Finally arriving at my accommodation i felt pretty nervous as i was gonna be with a bunch of randoms but they are all really nice and are always up for talking even though they just randomly finish their conversations with me and then just walk off so i don't know what that is all about!
After arriving I thought id take a quick trip around and just explore the area...Im staying near Culver city which is a resale nice area, lots of places to eat but I couldn't find one shopping centre and i looked everywhere!!! I did manage to find a huge target with its own drive the pharmacy and a huge 99c store! The main road which will pretty much take you through to wherever you want to go is La Cienega BLV and it seriously is an eye opener into American life, everywhere you look there are takeaway food outlets and a hell of a lot of taco stands and everyone seems to constantly be in a rush to go somewhere. Culver city is a little way out from downtown LA and Hollywood but on my first day La Cinegea was all I could possibly manage.
which leads us to....TODAY!!!
Saturday 16th June!
I had my alarmed set for 10am but I kept getting woken up by my phone vibrating so i skipped the 10am wakeup and instead opted for 12pm! Getting up I head straight for the train station I was unsure at first how the train system worked around here and it wasn't helped by the fact that not one of the people I was staying with could give me any advice so i just thought id wing it. Once you know where you are going it is relatively easy to get around...they say LA is built for cars and that is definitely true as the city is very spread out but luckily these new metro trains they have will pretty much take me wherever I want to go and so I headed into Sunset Blvd! The Blvd is pretty amazing, every few blocks you walk there are film lots and this Hollywood area is totally different to La Cienega....alot more classy! The strip is HUGE and just seems to go for miles but luckily the surrounding sights means you don't really notice....I got to see the infamous Hollywood sign and the church of Scientology and ad my first experience eating in at a restaurant that involved having to leave a tip.
when I first arrived here I wasn't too sure about LA, it really didn't seem like a place that you could imagine living and I thought id find it hard to find things to do with my time but even only after one day of begin here the list of things that I want to see and do has grown massively!! LA is definitely one place that I could stay.
