Artist's Drive is a 1 way loop that starts at it's southern most junction with Highway 178 and weaves north through a series of broken rock faces that expose the minerals under the surface. This results in a multi coloured landscape which is a sharp contrast from the otherwise sand coloured views that dominate most of Death Valley.

We got on the road, stopped for some photos about halfway along and then got the video camera rolling with Kyuss on the stereo for a proper desert road video.

If you're in the area then Artist's Drive is definitely worth a detour if you can fit it into your trip.

After this was Natural Bridge Canyon where erosion has eaten a large archway through a massive rock that would otherwise be blocking the trail. It's about half a mile from the trail head to the bridge and another half mile to the top of the trail where it dead-ends. There's some great from views up here and the upper half of the canyon makes for some good fun scrambling around on the rocks. We didn't stay out long as by this point the heat was starting to get to both of us.
