What I did
Lake diving...

250 km drive to Lake Bunyonyi today. Stopped off in the town nearby to get provisions and a bite to eat...nothing gets doen in a hurry in Africa, waiting about an hour for food...

Drive up to the lake was interesting, a long narrow winding mud road through the mountains with several hundred feet drops below. Fortunately there had been no rain otherwise it would be impassable. Views were spectacular - the lake was formed between 10-15 thousand years ago when volcanic eruption plugged a river flow. It's extremely deep and freshwater but there are no predators and safe to swim in. Signs say the lake is 6500m deep...not sure that is quite right, might have to google it at some point. Saw the locals quarrying out the bedrock from the mountainside, looks backbreaking work and I bet they get pittence for theor toil.

Quickly set up camp in glorious sunshine and then went for a swim. One diving platform placed about 9 metres up a tree and plucked up the courage to jump in from there...enjoyed it so much I did it again making sure some photos were taken and Dennis got a vid which I shall post. Swim was refreshing and throughly enjoyed myself, albeit I realised how unfit I am!

Dinner followed before meeting with local orphans who put on a dancing show for us. We all made donations to the home. The kids dancing was a real highlight, they were fantastic and clearly loved it. They got us all involved and I threw a few shapes on the dancefloor...unfortunately there's photographic evidence...The orphans are looked after by a charity called Helping Hands, Healing Hearts who evidently do an incredible job. It was nice to feel we were able to make a bit of a difference to them by donating to the home for provision of clothing and education equipment.

Beer and pool at the bar followed then bed. 'Mash', our local cook from Kenya showed us all up on the pool table...I have vowed to beat him before we reach Cape Town...
