Travelling back to Kaohsiung we are once again impressed by the efficiency and ease of use that the Taiwan HSR (High Speed Rail) link provides. Our return journey cost little more than 6 USD, with trains leaving every hour.
The Subway links directly to the HSR. As is typical few locals seem to make use of the Subway. Whenever we have used the stations and trains they have generally appeared eerily deserted. This is very confusing given that the subway is modern, clean, efficient and safe – an easy way to transit this city of 3 million – the second largest in Taiwan.
On board S/Y Jennifer Calle and Will return from a trip to the local Ikea laden down with edible Swedish delights to remind them of home. Dinner that evening consists of Swedish meatballs and Lingonberry jam – a tasty alternative to some of the street vendor food available locally.
