Another interminable wait beckons at the Chinese embassy as we return to pick up our Visas. Three hours after arriving we have Visas and are ready to leave for Subic Bay. Victory Liner provides a frequent bus service between Manila and Subic Bay. Our bus is clean and only half full. The four hour journey alongside rice fields, low hills and random villages passes quickly. Periodically vendors appear on board with doughnuts, peanuts, sandwiches and drinks so we have little chance of going hungry!

We arrive in Subic Bay late afternoon. Our hotel proves to have a great location overlooking the marina but rather strange policies and procedures (a requirement that the number of towels provided in the room or confirmed at check in, an ability to process chip and pin credit cards and as we were to find out subsequently an included breakfast which does not include juice or toast!).

After check in we soon locate our floating home for the next month. Currently, 'on the hard' a small army of Filipino workers have her surrounded painting, sanding and generally repairing. Our Skipper for this adventure ‘Lars’ confirms that all is on schedule and we will be back in the water tomorrow, expecting to leave the following day. All is on plan!
