an hour spent on a dirt track road got the oz bus to Kroombit. the only people that visit Kroombet are the people on an oz bus. one lot traveling north and one lot traveling south. this place is a bit off the beaten track so the oz experience only stays one night there. it's a shame coz this goat farm was one of my highlights.
on the first day, we arrived and got straight into dinner. after that there was a lesson in cracking a whip. between dinner and the whip lesson, i thought i had enough time to get out of the clothes i had been in for about 12 hours, in the heat, and have a shower. the biggest problem with this was the amount time i spent dodging praying mantises flying around in the shower sticking their wings to my wet skin. i got used to this. when i was dressed again i was too late for the whipping but was still in time for the mechanical bull riding. i came second. can't remember my time but it wasn't bad. respectable like.
next came the organized entertainment. great i thought. my fave'. drinking games. no.
first game was kiss the pig. this consists of a bottle being passed around the circle and each person having to tell the piggy they love it and kiss it on another part of its 'body'. then there is a bit of a surprise. dont want to ruin it for anyone. i would advise this game only be played by 12-17 year olds, the upper bracket will probably need a lot of drink to enjoy it.
the second game was pass the tongs. this was another kids game where the tongs got passed from player to player in a certain way that people had to try and figger out.
well those games lasted all of 30min. next she went and got a cd player turned it on repeat and left; soon to come back later when the fun was heard.
as the bar was due to shut i stoked up with cans of bourbon and coke. me and a few people that i had met that night that were traveling north sat around playing 'what the fcuk' and my two fave' flexibility games. people slowly disappear one by one. in the end i was there with just three others trying to get one of them to do the broom trick. she was very annoyed with herself as she was very short, petit and done kick boxing and yoga back home. ended up chatting to them till about 4am.
got back out of bed at 6am ready to eat breakfast, go goat lassooing and clay pigeon shooting.
the lassooing was great fun. the sun was soooo hot. we practiced then got let loose in the ring with a herd. i took ages, and lost.
with the clay pigeon shooting, i think the sights were out or something ;-p i only hit 4 out of 6 which was the same as everyone else.
all this was done and then i had to do some rapid packing. i just had time while waiting for some of the others to pack to have a go at the whip cracking, it turns out i am quite good with a whip.
when everyone else had packed and payed we got on the bus to go to Hervey bay.
