Landing in Melbourne I again get the familiar feeling that I am home, The same sights that I have seen time and again pass by and fill me with a pleasant recollection of good times gone by.  It has been about four years since I was last in this city and although much has changed, it still has the same feel and the same classic sights, the colonial architecturally styled Flinders street station with its row of ancient clocks, the wide green parks and the busy bustling cafes and shops that line Collins and Brunswick Street. It was a magnificent sunny day and although Anna and I had been up since 4 o clock in the morning with the transfer from Byron Bay and the flight from Brisbane, we were filled with excitement at being back in this dynamic and colourful city and so took a wander among the lanes and backstreets that crisscross between the main thoroughfares.
To me Melbourne is a place to wind down and take life at a leisurely pace and while we were here visiting friends and relatives we were blessed to be taken to some of their favorite eating spots in the city.  Melbourne is the cuisine capital of Australia and the sheer volume of high quality restaurants in the city is immense.  Lucky to be here at the time of the comedy festival we caught a show at the town hall which was a rather unusual hat's off to the mighty boosh TV show in the UK and also took a trip to the MCG to see a quintessentially Australian AFL match, interestingly enough to see the reigning champions Hawthorn lose by 30 points.
