It took two terrible boat trips, but finally we arrived in Kapit, our half way point on the way to Belaga. The first was in some fairly choppy seas that, for a vessel designed to deal with them, would have presented no major problems. However, ours was no such vessel, and every wave had us pitching as if we were about to capsize. At first I thought that I was just being a hopeless land-lubber and that we were in no real danger, but when the locals all started screaming, crying and throwing up I got a little more concerned. Fortunately, we had the luxury of a film to help the voyage go by. The captain's choice was "2012", which for anybody who hasn't seen it, involves lots of massive waves and boats generally getting destroyed with panicking and screaming passengers.

The second boat was a gentle upriver affair that would have been pleasant enough had it not been for the Malay pop music which was played full volume for the duration of the trip, which was enough to make me wish we were back on the first boat.

We made it in the though, and somehow getting another boat at nine this morning didn't seem to be such an appealing idea, so instead we are spending the day relaxing in Kapit. There is bugger all here though really. If you want a bit of a laugh, try looking it up on google maps. On to Belaga...
