Luckily we were also close the main shopping district and the best food market youŽll ever clap eyes on. We discovered that market on the first day and returned every day after. On the second day, we delved a bit further into the delights of the local market and discovered the meat section. James looked a little less than delighted at the suckling pigs for sale, all cuddled up under the glass and looking like they were asleep. To his credit, he did take a photo. However he did draw the line at photographing the next stall. He cast his eye over the liver, kidneys, brains, sheeps heads and tripe, and began to look a trifle uneasy as I pointed out the testicles. It was then the camera went firmly back in the bag and he went retreated to the fruit section.
Barcelona is a fantastic city and probably my favourite so far. It has the best restaurants, markets, shops of any city so far and the Gaudi architecture is a must see. We ended up staying an extra two nights, but could easily have filled another two weeks. Brilliant!
