It was all going so well. Before I reached the outrageous queues of supersize americans in Houston that is. My connecting flight over to mexico was from there but unfortunately, due to the laziness of US Border Security, I was waiting several hours to even pass immigration whilst watching my plane fly off into the distance. A further hour´s queue found me on a standy list for a flight that night but, having got to within 2 metres of the cabin door was told that there was no room and I was to have the pleasure of an overnight jaunt in Houston. Once again I was placed in the care of America´s finest airport hotels (which are still likely to be the most luxury i´ll see this trip) and treated to a free breakfast at Starbucks the next day before finally boarding a new plane in the morning. Where on earth my bag, that had been checked through to Mexico in London, had gotten to was a whole other story.
