Bigger than Cairns, with a population of 150'000 v cairns of 100'000.
We stopped the night here after just 3 hours driving, both of us tired and sweaty having not showered for 4 days. !! i know we stank !
We parked outside a Swimming pool, and used the facilities to get clean! They had an olympic swimming pool like most places around here, so i managed 8 lengths, and could do no more. I had three showers in total whilst i was there.
We went to visit some sights on foot to keep out of the van/sweatbox. we walked for about 4 hours i think, and treated ourselves to fish and chips after. mmmmm
The morning of Friday, i woke up and felt a little energetic so i went running for 45 minutes.Up the Esplanade and back, all the way, say every 400mtrs, there was different gym equiptment on the side of the run/walkway. for example some inclined sit up benches, pull up bars, climing wall, steps, and different types of stretcing benches. It was great, plus it raining lightly so made run easier. Even at 9am it was so hot, at least 25 degrees C. For my shower i used the ones on the beach, but i kept my swimmers on though! I think the police would have something to say if i didnt !! I had some funny looks but it didnt matter i needed it, and the van doesnt have a shower as you may have guessed.
ON TO CAIRNS ! !) 10 HOURS LATER MIND......
