We spent four relaxing nights in a lovely, quiet caravan park in Kinka Beach (we would definitely recommend). There are about 20km of beaches that stretch between Yeppoon and Emu Bay with Great Keppel Island across the water. It had everything of the WitSundays without the crowds and shops.
We spent a day on the beach playing cricket. climbing rocks and frolicking in the ocean. We eventually ventured into the big smoke and spent most of the day around the botanical gardens and the zoo in Rockhamptom. The kids loved the monorail, where they rode around a 400 meter track on special bikes (see photos). The definitely earned their ice creams that day after completing 8 laps of the track on a very hot day.
We were lucky to be beside a family with three kids who were touring indefinitely around Australia in a decked out bus called Bessie. We spent a couple of days together before Helen, Andre, Tal, Renni and Jarra left for Cairns.
A beautiful coastline.
