couple of pools, one salt water, a big camp kitchen and a well equipped
dinning room. We have used the pool extensively, particularly Grace and
Rose. Unfortunately, the weather has taken a turn for the worse the last
couple of days, which has forced us to move our trip to the Barrier
Reef from Wednesday to Saturday.
We have decided not to do the outer barrier reef since Oscar and maybe
even Lily would find the constraints of a boat (although rather largish)
for 7 hours difficult to endure. Luckily there is an option to do the
lower barrier reef where you sail out and explore the reef from an
island. Oscar can at least built sand castles and paddle in the warm
water. Apparently we will still see plenty of coral, tropical fish and
On Wednesday we headed to the Daintree Village and then across the ferry
towards Cape Tribulation. On the way we stopped at Gindalba Boardwalk,
which winds part way through the Daintree National Park. Even though it
was raining we decided (i.e. forced the kids) to do the board walk. I
will post pictures of my enthusiastic children in the next few days.
Unfortunately, we never actually reached Cape Tribulation. The heavy
rains had caused the river to flood the road and we were forced to turn
back :-(. We could've crossed it but were concerned that on the way
back, withe the high tide, it may have been a lot higher. There were
lots of cars turning back.
That's it for now. We are hoping that the Sun comes out to play
shortly...but either way I don't mind it.
