After spending the morning in the Therme and then having a delicious breakfast buffet we headed back to Italy. Our final destination: Bellagio on Lake Como. We had one stop along the way - Church San Benedetg by Peter Zumthor (architect of Therme Vals) in Sumvitg, Switzerland. It is a beautiful little piece of architecture in a very tiny town. The church which seats probably 30 people at most, is built into the hillside and is filled with light.

After leaving Sumvitg, it didn't take long to get to Como but the drive to Bellagio was narrow and the oncoming traffic didn't slow down. It took a while but it was worth the wait.

When we walked into our fabulous lake front hotel (Hotel Florence) it was like a dream. The hostess walked us to our room and we were instantly blown away. A beautiful cloud like bed, a seating area, vintage tables and dresser, and a huge bathroom with a tub! But the best was opening the french doors and walking out onto our massive private balcony that overlooked the lake. There were a couple chairs and a table which we planned to utilize later.

We spent the evening walking around the charming little town and went to the tip of the city where we had a fantastic view of the whole lake. We took time to look at all of the small towns that lined the lake front. There wasn't much of a beach but we walked along the stony shoreline. If it had been warmer we probably would have gone swimming in the clear water.

Just after sunset we went back to our hotel and had champagne on the balcony as the sky turned from blue to black and moon rose above the mountains and into the sky.

As the stars came out we headed to dinner, out last in Italy. We ate at the hotel's restaurant that was located right on the waterfront. We leisurely ate and reminisced on our fantastic trip and the fun wedding we were heading to in Minneapolis.

It was a perfect ending to the perfect trip.
