Hello everyone!!

Sorry that it has been a while:) Things are going great! Gosh-A lot has happened since I last wrote. Well, I guess I'll start with Christmas:) We all had fun at Mantis and Moon (as you will see in the pics)! I jumped Oribi Gorge, which is the highest gorge swing in the world with a 300 ft free-fall. I actually dove into the gorge, which was amazing! I guess I am warming up for the bungee jump at Bloakran's river Bridge in March. It didn't really seem like Christmas, but we still had a great time. I was actually walking along the beach, letting the Indian Ocean waves cool my feet while thinking..."Wow-it is Christmas and I am in South Africa at the beach!". I had to work New Year's Weekend, but it was a lot of fun! All the volunteers that were working (including me) threw a huge party for the kids. We had food, drinks, games, and a fashion show! We also had fireworks and all dressed up in crazy clothes (well, some crazier than others!). We tied a bunch of balloons up in a mosquito net that was hung from the ceiling to be released when the clock struck twelve, following an exciting count-down:)-which was cool. The weather has been very nice-hot during the day with showers in the mid-afternoon cooling it down. I have a tank-top farmer tan that is absolutely beautiful-what can I say:) I also have a new pet-a beautiful chameleon named "Charlie". I'll post a picture for you! He lives in my room and takes care of a lot of the critters for me. He doesn't even live in a cage, he just climbs around wherever he pleases. He has the eyes that can look in different directions (one forward and one backward), and he changes to the most brilliant shades of green, red, and brown. I guess the most recent news is that i have decided to leave GGA one month early and backpack down the coast. I love what I am doing and will miss the children terribly, but I really want to do some more traveling while I am here-and am VERY excited about the backpacking experience. I am planning on giving away most of my clothes and things-including my suitcase:), and surviving on what I can carry on my back. How liberating!!There is so much to see and not enough time. Every other weekend I have off, and have been taking advantage of these days with traveling-but there is only so much you can do in a weekend and you are limited in distance traveled. I am leaving GGA around the first of March to begin my coastal journey, and will arrive in the states on the 2nd of April as planned. I will still continue to post updates while at the home, and when I am backpacking. Well, my time is almost up:(. I'll write again as soon as I can. Thanks again for all of your support! :)Jaime

Everything sounds so breathtaking. You always get the best tan so I could only imagine how dark you are. Sounds like you are creating your own meaning for adventure and it sounds exciting. I am so happy things are going so well for you now. Sounds like you had a wonderful New Years & have already started planning for this year.
Love & Miss You,
