Yesterday it rained and it was like Christmas. We had been having lack of water problems for a couple days and it was getting really rough since we didn't have much for showering, flushing toilets, laundry, drinking, etc. It was close to one of the best days of our lives when the downpour came yesterday.
We've started our teaching practicums and they are going very well! Basically what happened was that it was broadcast on local TV that we (WorldTeach teachers) were going to be having a week of classes for high school students, and that if students wanted to participate they just had to sign up. Believe it or not, we had a TON of kids sign up. (Can you imagine that happening in the U.S.? kids like, yay yay! summer school!) Anyway, the kids are great and I'm really learning a lot from this teaching experience. I'm teaching Form 4 science, which is like 10th grade. The students are very bright and it is very encouraging to see them learning.
Yesterday we visited an Amerindian village, Agatash, which was right on the river. It was very beautiful and peaceful.
