Where to start? Me and Nads spent our first week of travelling together in Greece. Greece was a cool country with Athens being the only exception, it was a fairly dirty capital with a lot of strange characters getting around. The street that our hostel was on is promoted by Lonely Planet as being a great budget option if you don't mind the prossies and drug dealers in the street. Of course we didn't mind, the two of us combined probably make up the stingiest couple in the world, Nadja even threw up the idea of joining the women in the street to fund our travels - I calmly talked her out of this idea.

After Athens we made our way up north through the country stopping in Delphi, Meteora and than to Thesseloniki which is the city that has relegated Melbourne back to having the 3rd largest Greek population.

Meteora blew us away. We didn't even really know where we were going and arrived late at night. In the morning we looked outside and we were surrounded by gigantic rocks. Meteora made us feel like we were out of the Flinstones. I'm not joking, if there was ever a 'bedrock' in this world, than Meteora would have to be it. There are six monasteries in Meteora and they are perched on the peaks of some of the rocks. It's definitely a place we love.

All in all, Greece was nice but expensive, like any Western European countries I suppose. So after breaking the budget, we decided to give Eastern Europe a crack where the prices were sure to be lower and the experience a little different.
