So, after Greece it was up to Bulgaria. Our first destination was the capital; Sofia.

What a great place Bulgaria is, it's Europe at Chinese prices with all the sights and stuff that you get in any European country - monestaries, castles and naked sunbathing. But don't think about taking your gun into a bank or a restaurant. The NO gun sign was the first thing that we saw when getting of the bus and walking down the street in Sofia. This was a little worrying at first, but the guy at the hostel informed us that we didn't need to worry because it was only the Mafia that carry them and that they probably weren't going to care about a couple of backpackers.

A few days after we saw the NO gun sign we saw another one, but this time it was coupled with a sign saying NO food. The sign for NO food used a croissant with a red dash through it to indicate that food was not allowed on the premises. I then had to convince Nads for the next half an hour that the croissant was a symbol for food in general and not only for croissants.

Anyways, we moved on from Sofia to the black sea coast where we visited a few different towns and cities. The first city that we went to on the Black Sea was Varna where we were the first guests to stay in a new hostel called GREGORYS BACKPACKERS. The owners were super cool and we spent two of our four nights drinking to the early hours of the morning. While ordinary people were eating their cornflakes, we were knocking back bottles of Zagorka (a Bulgarian beer) and watching Neighbours re-runs. The hostel is awesome, its the Hilton for backpackers, they're even putting a swimming pool in the backyard.

If time permits, we will be heading back there to work, and i'll be the proud mini-bus driver.

Soon after we went back inland to Veliko Tarnovo, which is a medieval type town in the middle of the country. From there we moved onto Lake Orhid, Macedonia
